Yeah, I guess they didn't do any research on how grenades work... pretty sure the lever is spring loaded and would have flown off immediately.

Depends what model of grenade and where it's from. Some of the earlier grenades ww1 the lever stayed attached and just the trigger was spring fired. I reckon it looks cooler with the handle on anyway, like how it makes the grenade roll and tumble off the table. I can't tell which model grenade it is modelled off, looks like a few mixed together.

That was my thought as well, but I guess it's worse when they shoot bullets and you see the bullet with cartridge and everything shooting out of the barrel!!
.....I wonder whether the idea was derived from that Beavis and Butthead episode.

that's interesting Mr. Spleen. your comment is based on the assumption that everybody knows what is going to happen in the end. so the twist here is there's no twist. v. clever. so post modern. personally i would have liked the grenade to squirt off the edge of the bat and fly into the air over the protective glass and into the ugly black tie dudes. our grotesque fascination coming back to bite us and making a much bigger mess.
