Mirror Me Softly is an electronic mirror prototype exploring randomness and unintended behavior in electronic products. The "mirror" is a live feed of yourself, interjected with random clips of the feed, causing a weird sense of alienation and atemporality. The mirror literally shows both your past and your present, sometimes making it difficult to discern between which is which.
The mirror is ideally displayed in a proper frame, making the illusion more believable. The iteration displayed here shows both your self real-time to the left and the looped feed to the right, in order to show off the principal. The application uses time and distance of the person in the frame to randomly determine which sequence to play back. The application is open to several possible iterations using multiple mirrors and on-screen mirroring etc etc.
Mirror me Softly is built in Processing using OpenCv.
