Some nature shots near my home.
Shot on a canon XHA1 with a crappy tripod. You can see the shaking of the wind - it was very windy...

No 35mm adapter was used - just plain canon XH-A1 but with some softfocus effects and minor colorcorrection in post.

Nice! good bokeh doesn't always require an adapter as you show.
on a side note i'd NEVER put my baby on a 'crappy' tripod, you should show more love to yours ;D

I should say most shots are captured with a neutral gradual cokin filter (P series). Saving up for a mattebox but can't figure out why those always have to be so darn expensive...

    Bellisimo video, Kjewbee!
    Love the water shots-
Question for you; the bridge shot as the bikers approach:are you in MF mode? Is that why the camera doesnt autofocus on them or even flinch as they approach? Thanks,
Oh, BTW, I'm coming to Europe, have an extra room? Just kidding. Europe is so beautiful....ahhhhh...

    is this on 24fps mode?
  • Kjewbee 3 months ago
Its a european camera so its shot at 25p :)
I allways shoot in 25p. I cant see why i should shoot in 50i

That first shot looks like a portrait, just amazing, I dont like the soft focus effect on the edges but I love everything else. Any presets used there?
  • Kjewbee 3 months ago
thanks, preset I believe was either wolfgang's 0Db or panalook. I now only use the wolfgang preset anymore. Just the best imo.

PS. Dont forget I have done some grading in post - just minor contrast and saturation changes.

Great shots, I'm SO tempted to sell my wife and get an XH-A1 :)

Also, I'm becoming increasingly convinced that while a Letus is an interesting piece of kit, almost identical effects can be achieved with first rate technique and decent post production.
  • Kjewbee 3 months ago
    thanks!
About the Letus. You are right but: To produce an shot about equal to a letus shot (with dof) you have to zoom in like hell and take more distance from the subject to compensate. Most of the time, this is not possible (like indoor shots where there is no room). Another thing is sound. If I use my letus, I can use my onboard mic to capture decent sound - when zooming in, this is not possible.

Very picturesque shots, and the XH A1 is a great camera indeed. :)

    This is great. Really amazing.

I have the xha1 and borrowed a letus 35 kit from work. Its in my house for a month already :)

Can I ask you what do you edit with? I find 25f a bit tricky, without cineform.

    chears mate.

Great! Great! I have still problem with my XH-A1 :( All what I shoot is very "ghosted". Means - quick moving (for example hands) are blured in their moving. It's very ugly. I'm using 50i, but looks 25p is much better I think.
Look to my video please, I'm very sad :(
