FLATLAND: An Adaptation in Dance by TerryandTheCuz and Suhaili Micheline
‘Flatland’ is a contemporary dance performance adapted from Flatland, the satirical novella by Edward Abbott.
Published in 1884, ‘Flatland’ takes us to a completely flat world of two dimensions where all the inhabitants are geometric shapes, and who think the planar world of length and width is all there is. The novella offers pointed observations on the social hierarchy and politics of Victorian culture.
This adaptation of ‘Flatland’ will be developed as a contemporary dance work that allegorically dissects the cultural makeup of Malaysian society. The work will be a rich multi-media experience encompassing interactive audio-visual, lighting and costume design.
