1. The magic crane
(Nearly) final piece for competition brief and the first animation I've ever done!

Brief: Make us remember your name.
(my surname is crane)

Response: The crane symbolises my ideas, how they start out one dimensional and develop into something coherent. It also represents turning bad into good, improving, optimism. The choice of newspaper to change is because I am design editor for the student newspaper. Cranes are also a powerful positive symbol, and the origami is of course Japanese, a country which I have a keen interest in.
I chose animation because I felt it best portrayed the process of the folding, which I've been told is quite interesting to watch. The folding represents the changing of ideas. It also gave me a change to make the crane fly, which would be a bit of a missed opportunity if it didn't!
