South Shore Health's top doc is aware of the public's discontent concerning the special telephone line system used so new care providers can accept patients. The district is examining other ways of improving the way patient intake is carried out. Critics of the current modus operandi are unimpressed with the long waits and technical problems associated with the phone-in system thus far. The district recently shelved a planned patient intake because of a snafu involving the telephone service provider. On the second attempt the maximum number of patients vying for the medical services of Dr. Sheila Dwyer or nurse practitioner Cheryl Soroka was achieved within minutes. (Story by Keith Corcoran)
