Founded in 1867, the Museo Arqueológico Nacional [National Museum of Archaeology] is undergoing a comprehensive structural modernisation and a revitalisation of the way its collections are presented until autumn 2013. The restrained, timeless exhibition architecture was designed as a flexible system which guides the attention of the visitor to the exhibits. The Egyptian, Greek and Numismatic departments were redesigned in two phases of construction. museumstechnik berlin designed and produced 250 cabinet and desk-top display cases for these departments, featuring integrated lighting and passive climate control, as well as various special constructions with individually developed units for active filtering of contaminants.
