"The life of a scarecrow changes when he decides to become friends with the birds"
This short film has been internationally acclaimed and received numerous awards since its premiere (including a pre selection to the Oscars)
This is not the final cut that was released, voices and music are not the final versions.
I was in charge of the creation and design of the characters and backgrounds, the storyboarding, the animation directing and the editing.
It was made mixing 2D backgrounds with 3D modeling into a false 3D environment in After Effects.

There´s a deeper approach to technical matters and "behind the scenes" (in English) at my web:

Maravilloso! Enhorabuena Carlos!!!

  • Carlos Lascano 5 months ago
    Gracias Emmanuel!

Great work, Carlos. Loved the animation, illustration and art direction. One doesn't have to speak the language to get the story. Brilliant job.

Increíble, me gustó mucho.

    Salu2

Fabuloso. Me encanta.

oh wow oh wow this is just so amazing. and the visuals on an artistic level were so beautiful they made me feel like crying.

i just love this beyond my fumbled sentences and poorly-chosen words.

i need to learn how to do this.

I just wanted to say I watched The Legend of the Scarecrow twice today, as well as reading any information I could get on it. I truly enjoyed the animation, as well as the story. I to would like to see this in English Subtitles, especially for my 11 year old daughter, who at this time only knows English.
I also would love a way to get a DVD of this short film and possibly some pictures of the scarecrow. My favorites are when he is smiling. I truly feel this character inside and out. When he smiles at the crows, you can see his entuasism and hope that they will stop to be his friend. Just hearthbreaking when they fly by and his smile slowly fades into the saddest face. His death so tragic, but also shows how life goes on and he gets his chance to fly with the crows. Thank you so much for this work!

Carlos you should register this (short film) under copywrite author, cuz I'm sure Dysney or Pixar could be very interested on the story and the film itself.

    EXITO!!

I saw your short film at the Chicago Film Festival in 2006, and I can't begin to express how I felt when I watched it. I have been watching animated shorts for years, and have never felt so moved by a film as I did with yours. I spent many hours searching for a place to buy a copy or watch it online, and was thrilled to find that you have posted it, so I can share it with my friends.
