Mark Romanack of Fishing 411 loves to jig fish, especially for species like lake trout that are rarely fished with light tackle. Mark and his guest Dale Voice travel to West Grand Traverse Bay, near Traverse City, Michigan to target deep water lake trout using jigs and minnows for bait. The trout population of Grand Traverse Bay is renowned as one of the best in the Great Lakes. Many anglers target trout here, but most troll for them. Jigging is an alternative tactic that is not only productive, but one heck of a lot of fun. The fish average about five pounds, but bigger trout are in the mix as well.
