New POV from Whistler Blackcomb by John Wells. I headed up to Whistler this past weekend to sample some of the Blackcomb backcountry. Loads of chutes and glaciers along with sunny skies and cold temps provided lots of opportunities to explore and wander. -17 degrees Celsius, week old snow, and blasting wind gave new meaning to the word motivation. Experimenting with new POV mounts and angles gave me ample incentive to keep moving and stay “prepared neva’ scared” of the fierce cold.
Pre-Olympic Whistler was keeping things on the down-low. The village looked busy preparing for 2010 and the onslaught of tourists. Peak to Peak was running without a hitch, and the mountain locals were basking in the calm before the storm taking in the rare peaceful atmosphere.
Thanks to Whistler Blackcomb for having me! There are endless opportunities at Whistler Blackcomb to explore and discover new terrain. I am excited for the years to come of laying down fresh tracks in the many zones at Whistler Blackcomb.
Cheers, John Wells
