Great work! Probably the best I have ever seen to be honest :)
May I ask what DOF plug you are using? It seems to be handling shallow dof very well.
Thanks for sharing. T&S is beautiful.
  • Phil Shoebottom plus 8 months ago
At first I thought the DOF was done in Vray, but with the breakdown it looks like post.

    Was it Frischluft?
  • Strob 8 months ago
Yes me too I'm wondering which plug he used because in a spanish interview he just answer to this question this way: we can do it with many plugins in post and then he names a few (Irisfilter, Lenscare, DofPro, etc) but he does not want to say which one he used...
    here is the interview:

Looks a lot like dofPro to me...

I just can't see any of the usual artefacts you get with Frischluft if you push it that hard....
Either way it's amazing but it would be nice to know which plug handles it that well.
  • Colin Evoy Sebestyen plus 8 months ago
I think a combo of multipass with various levels of DOF with frishluft and then composite instead of relying on depth mattes? I noticed primarily either multiplane composite effects or flat 1-plane DOF.

    This work is insane.

Fantastic work! I was lost in the art of your shots and the sound design more than the fact that it was 3D. I have done only a couple of architectural renderings and your stuff is absolutely top notch.

Definitely the most inspirational CG footage I've seen in a long time. Pure talent!

Question here. Was the depth of field rendered in VRay, or as a post in After Effects? From the video looks like it was a separate compositing layer. Any plugins used for achieving DoF? Thanks.

What a load of bollocks - its incredibly disappointing to see this!!!!!

Only in that you have had to justify your work to the morons who posted comments in your 5th post the actual film - by creating the old - film - pre post - render - wireframe version to show thateverytrhing is actually real CGI!!!

And by the way this guy is off the scale re - 3d - with his modelling - texturing - animation - compositing and other skills - most of pixar should be shitting themselves right now - he could put entire teams out of work :)

and for the guy who posted in film 5 - about the wind turbine spinning the wrong way - get your head out your arse and lets see your work - dickhead!!!!

Apologies for the language but sometimes its what you need to get your point across :)

This is a remarkable piece. I understand some of the skepticism, especially after reading the credits on feature animation films, but this looks like the real deal. It DOES look like certain elements, like the sky, certain textures, and channels have origins from raw photography, but I would need more info to make up my mind. But to a LARGE degree, who cares?!!! It is still a grand achievement. Can the author please describe the render resources?
  •
  • PapaSmurf 8 months ago
Absolutely amazing, to the finest detail, like the modeling of the leather chair with the cushion that really looked sat in, or the textures...and the lighting.... Loved the flowing trees - gave an otherwise dead piece some life.

What I'd like to know is if you designed the architecture for the buildings and spaces from scratch as well; they were so beautifully done.

ok, so maybe he didn't do the sky and human, and used a plate. whoopee.

Breathtaking. Thanks for showing us this. The realism comes in the little imperfections, the mixed color temperature practical and slight overexposure in daylight highlights. You can be really proud of this.

  • Willie Hartman 8 months ago
That was inspirational to say the very least. My lord. I'm about to go weep in a corner with happy tears. Thank you so much for sharing! Those of us who are in CG appreciate something so subtly brilliant.
