I was just going to try out Jet Strike Element 3D from VideoCopilot when I saw their promotional video, it looks very intuitive and very fast. But I wanted to do something different, so I took the Tumbler model instead and put it into the element 3D, and it works!
The initial idea is just to make the Tumbler steering from left to right while trying to match it into the footage, but I thought I can make it more exciting and bigger instead, so this is what happens, with explosion and stuff.. The best thing about it, is that I don't have to touch any 3D application at all, animation, lighting, everything happen inside Element 3D and it's 100% pure compositing.
I wanted to try out various methods, including using Depth Compositing incorporated into the 3D model, everything is a 2D footage mostly taken from action essentials, but it's amazing how you can make it interact with the 3D model!
What makes a scene more engaging if it's not for the sound effects. So I put an effort to make the sounds of the Tumbler comes to life with a lot of layering and stuff taken from sound library. This was a lot of fun to do and I hope I can do more of it in the future!
Please enjoy and Thanks for watching!
