My film Womb discusses the ideas of being uncomfortable with a natural feeling, that most humans develop at different stages in their lives of wanting to be close to another human. I created an uncomfortable soundscape, as the feelings in the film are not chosen, but instinctual. Therefore the subject, a young women, feels pulled between choices by being constantly told to be independent by elders, peers, 'the media' etc. The feeling of wanting to be loved is a very alien, and unhappy tug of war with her own mind and behavours. Also the idea of growing into the world with no choice as you have been conceived by two people who may or may not want you was explored in this piece using objects around the girl in the womb. The objects all seemed quite unnecessary in the lives of humans and made the film consider that depending on where you are brought into the world will completely impact your life. Colours and strobing effects were also used to create comfortable vs uncomfortable feelings.
