At the Cardiff School of Sport, we recently hosted the annual Student Conference for the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES), the professional body for sport and exercise science in the UK.

Cardiff Metropolitan University has become renowned for the importance it places on employability and to be selected to host this prestigious conference was a great way for us to illustrate how we pride ourselves on mentoring students from the classroom through to their chosen career.

The two-day student conference provided the opportunity for 330 undergraduate and postgraduate students of sport, exercise or related disciplines, from 70 institutions across Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales, and further afield from Sweden (Swedish Winter Sports Research Centre), Taiwan (National Taiwan Normal University), and Malaysia (Universiti Putra Malaysia) to firstly present their innovative sport and exercise science related work and also attend workshops and presentations led by established Cardiff Met researchers and practitioners in the sport and exercise science fields. Participants were able to make connections with potential employers in the sport and exercise sciences; and network with other future sport and exercise scientists.
