We crossed the border into Laos in the North of Thailand. All we knew at that time was that we somehow had to get to Luang Prabang, the access point for the North of Laos.
The slow-boat ride on the Mekong river to get there was already a highlight of the trip in itself. And it turned out that Luang Prabang was much more than an access point. It is such an amazing town and simply became a magical place to us. We ended up staying in and around Luang Prabang for an entire week. The relaxed atmosphere, incredibly friendly people, all the cultural sites and the stunning nature kept us there and it was hard to leave this beautiful place behind us.
