When I first met Jim, it was funnily enough at a Buck’s party of a friend earlier in the year. We started to talk about how he was engaged and it was his wedding coming up, but there was so many unexpected extra things he didn’t realise he needed… especially a wedding videographer haha I laughed.
Unbeknownst to both of us, I quickly checked in my calendar at the date, and we realised I was filming his wedding, what a coincidence. I was excited and couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen on the day.
Fast forward to the end of the year, wow we almost didn’t need to, because it went by so fast. Jim and Lyn’s wedding was the last Same Day Edit for Paper Cranes in 2013, and I’m so glad we got to share the film with everyone at the reception.
The day was pretty full on, Lyn’s family helped with so many beautiful baby’s breath bunches for the ceremony. And I mean, MANY! It was a little hotter, but every second was worth it outside filming the dress, I hope they didn’t see me break a sweat. I had to do a few trips between shots to run back in the air conditioning haha and swap gear.
Lyn’s surprise for Jim’s letter was really from the heart, it brought everyone together in so many ways. It’s my favourite getting to film the little stories at the brides house, there were so many people all doing different things getting ready and it’s always fun jumping around upstairs then downstairs then outside and inside trying my best to be at the right place at the right time.
Even though Jim said his only job was to “Show Up” and that Jim seemed to be carefree, every time he spoke, you could really see that he cares so much, for everyone around him, especially Lyn. I’m so glad you let Lyn choose us Jim haha the day was full of so many moments that I would’ve felt crushed inside if we missed out on them. Especially at the ceremony ;)
I love when the couples and their family are so welcoming, we felt like guests more than vendors, and that’s what makes it so much easier to film. Thank you Jim and Lyn for trusting us and letting us “DO OUR THANG”, what a way to end the year for us, and what a way to begin your lives together!
Merry Christmas and have a blessed New Year, share away and wish you all the best together in the future.
