The use of wing-plows for winter operations at Michigan County Road Commissions has increased over the past few years. Using wing-plows can make a winter operations program more effective and efficient in a variety of ways. In order to reduce the risk of costly accidents and injuries, certain safety precautions must be considered, implemented and practiced by road commission snowplow truck and equipment operators. We recommend that all members review the MDOT Maintenance Advisory 2008-06 of November 10, 2008, and follow the safe work practices and precautions referenced in this video.
