    Amazing! Beautiful shots!
  •
  • Wonderful. That 1d it´s a fucking beast. Some really nice shots there. liked the timelapses and the B&W tone given the snow more weight. Also Liked the ending Window shot.

well nice & great as usual ;) great pictures ... the "money shot" is priceless ;) ... lovely usage of music ... the window idea is cool...

BUT i was wondering if it is just the low light capability that makes that cam worth to pay the higher price ... do you think you can/could manage to get that sort of shots with the 7D or 5DII ?

Fantastic job. Really beautiful. B&W really suits the subject so great choice there. Great compositions and use of silhouetting. The opening shot and tilt down from the street signs seemed quite wide, actually despite the 1.3 crop. Would you have preferred wider?

    Once again, nice work!

Great idea with the timelapse, and then there's Rick eating the sausage....PRICELESS!

BTW, loved that you did it all in B&W.

And I love the B&W, though I have to admit I'm a sucker for Christmas lights which there seemed to be lots of, which left me wanting to see you do your wonderful thing with all that colour too! :)

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

and scrap that comment...just read why you used black and white, and totally understandable. Actually had a similar conversation with a gaffer friend of mine living in shanghai.

great decision on desaturating. with the amazing tones that comes out of these dslr cams, i think we've lost appreciation for the impact of b/w.

what did you set your exposure to for the timelapse in the courtyard? the motion blur of the people walking looks great!

Music from The Hudsucker Proxy indeed. It's from the Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia, by Aram Khachaturian. Also known as the theme from The Onedin Line.

It gets used pretty much everywhere.....I think I saw an ad for toilet paper which used it!

Love the shots....love the meat on a spit! Very nice work, Mr Bloom....

    Very nice indeed.

Lovely opening shot with the window opening and the way it frames the shot. Also like the fact you finished by closing the window and then used the window as a framing tool for the credits.

Really enjoyed the pace as well, the music gives so much structure and as it drops I love the long time lapse of the snow hitting the cobbles. Not sure about the shot that follows though, seems to be very little movement going on in the shot for a time lapse. A few people walking on the right and a little water movement doesn’t really work for me.

Finally I love the shot on the bus or tram. The quiet carriage coupled with the music is perfect.

Seems like I’m going to repeat what everyone else has said on here, including myself in previous posts, but well-done mate. You’ve captured the city and some of it’s people well.

Surely you've got to make a real pooper soon (you are human?)

That looks CRAZY GOOD in B&W! Looks like it lives up to the low light hype, would imagine the colour version doesn't look quite as good tho. Clearly quite a heavy grade on it, would be interesting to see some of the raw footage as well.

I love the fluidity the Glidetrack adds to this video and the others you have done. These shots have convinced me to add some sort of track to my kit. Do you have any idea how much distance on the track you tend to use? I have seen some units with cranks which makes me wonder how hard it is to keep the movement uniform. Thanks in advance for any reply! Hope you were able recover and warm your nuts!!

well i could't figure it out in the fist place why this music track is kinda familiar to me ... i didn't know “Hudsucker…” till now ;) ... so i went to my itunes lib. and found it ICE AGE 2 - Track 29 - "The Pearly Gates (Adagio from "Spartacus")" sounds like the epic verison of this music ... well why is that ? ;)

anyway ... still a great philip bloom film :)

Fan - friggin - tastic! This is how filmmaking on DSLR should look like. Obviously you're a master at what you do, and it shows. This is just wonderful. I love how the camera movements are kept to a minimum and you just let the action speak for itself. I will be watching this again and again. Thanks for sharing.
