Sony PMW-EX1 Water Drop at 60 Frames Per Second
2 years ago
Most of you will think this is like watching paint dry, but the new Sony PMW-EX1 XDCAM EX camcorder is a work of art.
I just bought this camera and love it. The solid state memory (SxS) sticks allow the camera to over-crank and under-crank, much like film cameras.
This means that since no video tape is being used, the camera can record at different frame rates.
So why is this important? Because we are use to watching TV at 30 frames per second. This camera records up to 60 frames per second.
The result is super smooth slow motion because there are twice as many frames to play with when you slow the clip down. This video is an example of this.
I must thank three people for helping me decide on this camera. The first person is TV Tim, thanks for the financial help. The second is my bud TJ. And finally, Philip Bloom. His website is filled with EX1 material that will knock your socks off. He is extremely talented and he has inspired me to shoot more than just sports.
