Round two. So I pulled another co-worker outside to go for a better face capture. It was a nice overcast day, which provided much softer lighting. I did the same dance around in a circle like I did in the first experiment, only making sure a I had a full 360 degree coverage with overlap. I then punched in closer for a 180 degree pass across the face for more details. With about 43 shots taken I was able to create something SOOOOOO much better than my first experiment. Every time I process the textures and they popup in full resolution, my jaw just drops. I'm very happy with these results. Still more improvements to make, streamlining the post process, getting a more reliable lighting setup that I can use indoors, etc... The process would also be much faster and easier on the talent if there were more cameras to capture with. As it is one camera means me snapping pics as quickly and accurately as possible so the talent doesn't have to play freeze frame for very long. Not fun getting nearly finished and having the talent move. :)
