At the 2008 Nieman Conference on Narrative Journalism, I gave this 50-minute talk on blogging. My argument: Blogging and long-form narrative can be alternate means to the same end, breaking through the calcified restraints of traditional newspaper writing.
(One correction: In re-listening, I realized that when I'm describing the axes of the Benton Curve around 15:20, I said a certain point would be at the bottom right of the graph. I meant to say bottom left. Oops. And apologies for the so-so audio at times — who knew paper shuffling could be so audible?)
