The voiceover for THIS video was recorded using "hat trick". Linden spoke one inch from the mic. No popping is heard.
Linden uses this weird, simple method on the singing tracks of his indie songs, and hand holds his mic for VO.
If you're not in a studio, there's no reason to get fancy. Many studio methods are just for show, but this is down and dirty.
Do not use too many layers of hat material over the diaphragm. Follow that rule, and condenser mics will still sound crisp.
