An incredible array of three international master craftsmen, highly skilled in wooden surfcraft design were sharing their knowledge with a special focus on recycled and renewable materials.
The godfather of the Alaia movement, surf festival ambassador and master shaper Tom Wegener was showing people how to shape his signature Surfie belly boards out of Australian grown Palownia wood whilst Björn Holm, a designer, motocross pro, skater and surfer from Finland demonstrated curious onlookers how to create surfboards and handplanes out of old, broken skateboards. Next to him was Rodrigo Matsuda from Lasca Surfboards Brazil who is the most influential wooden surfcraft builder in South America. He was kept very busy teaching people the skill of shaping his beautiful lightweight functional hand planes.
