Special Surgery

A team of pediatric neurosurgeons travels from Miami to Haiti to operate on 25 children with severe cases of hydrocephalus. This is a congenital condition that affects 2 out of 1,000 babies. A simple operation immediately after birth allows the child a greater chance to a normal life. With the coordinating efforts of Project MediShare and the outreach program of Healing Hands of Haiti this surgery program is carried out twice a year.
