Rachael Martin, who has just completed a PhD at the Department of Psychology at the University of Essex, presents her research which shows that our personalities determine how we think, feel and behave. This research examines whether possessing an anxious trait, being neurotic or being extrovert influences our response to emotion. The emotional response was measured behaviourally and neurologically in the brain’s electrical activity and the results show that one trait in particular is more influential than others.
