We waited at Kasaragod for the Madras-Mangalore Mail to arrive. As the train pulled in, I observed an unusual First Class cum Sleeper coach at the beginning of the rake. After a brief 3-minute halt, the train departed towards Mangalore. Note the destination boards above the toilet windows.

Dr Sandeep Sreedharan 8 months agoThe composite coach was not *regular* with Mangalore mail. Earlier it had 1 FC and a 2A, then a 3A was added and now one more 3A. The FC could be axed at any time! You can see the regular FC just behind the AC coach. So the composite coach could have been some sort of a temporary arrangement. Probably it was a part of "slip" coach service to Trichy that existed for some time. -
