During the fall of 2013, sculptor Brian Dettmer visited Haverford and Bryn Mawr Colleges as part of the Mellon Creative Residencies Program, mounting the exhibit "Elemental" in Haverford’s Cantor Fitzgerald Gallery.
Part of Dettmer’s visit was the creation of an original work for Haverford—a carved edition of Laurence Sterne’s "Tristram Shandy." On Tuesday, October 22nd and Thursday, October 24th, Brian set up shop in the Rotunda of Haverford’s Koshland Integrated Natural Sciences Center and went to work.
