Ice is an uncommon but challenging building material. The goal of the 'Pykrete dome' project is to build the largest ice dome in the world by using Pykrete. The ice dome should have an internal diameter of 30 meters. This will make it 20 meter bigger than the current official [Guinness book] largest ice dome in the world. To make this size possible, the dome will be partly constructed with fiber-reinforced ice, or so-called Pykrete. This sustainable innovation has never been used in an ice building before. The ice dome will be built in December 2013 and is developed by students of the Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands.
