As my first gig with the Panasonic GH3, the Tree Lot Party was a godsend. Set in one of the gargantuan warehouses of Fort Mason, this glamorous Christmas shindig drew more than two thousand of San Francisco's most beautiful young professionals to dance the night away. At 1080p, the GH3 can be ramped to 60fps, which means slow motion at 40% normal speed - a creative freedom I really enjoyed amongst the dancing, smoke and confetti. This was also my first gig with my wife, Jeannelle, as a second cameraman. Excellent work!
Filmed primarily with Panasonic's digital single lens mirrorless camera, the GH3. Additional footage shot on the GH2, with the unofficial firmware hack applied. Video was recorded at 24fps in 1080p, with slow motion at 50 and 60fps. Stabilized by the Manfrotto 561BHDV-1 and Steadicam Merlin, footage was filmed using the Lumix G 20mm F1.7, Minolta MD 50mm f1.7 and MC Minolta Celtic 135mm f2.8.
