I was hired for a video shoot by De Cristo Productions and we fit an extra trip to San Francisco into the busy schedule. Special thanks to Fred White for his effortless creativity and resources during this shoot and also for the use of his XHA1.

I put this piece together as a memory of a great place and a tribute to our collaborative efforts. Color work was done in post.

    Wow nice picture !

Are you shure it was the factory preset because it looks real natural colors.
  • Steven Dempsey 2 years ago
Pretty sure, the original footage was pretty flat.

it feels more documentary than art this time :)

It's lovely with so many memorable moments. I wished we could hear some of the natural sounds of some of the scenes, but the song was great by it self.

Yes, very grip and rip because I did not plan out this visit, it was just jump in the car, jump out of the car, etc. The ambiance varied so much from scene to scene and there was so much tourist yakking that I decided to cut the ambiance in favor of a more laid back rhythm with the song.

Wow! I tried to think of something brilliant to say but I just couldn't get my mind off the crack in the windshield. :-) Steven, It was a great trip. Can't wait to get you out here again. Don't forget to call the Discovery Channel.

Great Song! Great Footage! Great Company! How can you go wrong.

FYI: The presets were changed when we went to Yosemite.

I switched the last two shots because the general consensus was that it worked better to end on the cityscape rather than Alcatraz. I agree. The modified version is now online.

    Steven Dempsey,

I always like your work, thanks for this stunning video! Fantastic colour though! Wanted to download this video! I have had your few videos in my Laptop but I lost them!

You have posted some fantastic videos in various forums, the one with little girl and one with snow, one boy and one beautiful lady with car! And there was some kitchen stuff in that video, and the music was fantastic, it was very fast music. I love that video unfortunately it is now not with me, I would appreciate if you can upload somewhere and I can download it again! And if you can upload this San Francisco I would really appreciate it!

Here is my profile on vimeo if you would like to see my work: vimeo.com/user318721/videos

Would highly appreciate your suggestion/ feedback.

    Thanks.

Mr. Dempsey, it was because of your beautiful work that I joined this site. At this point, I am only a hack, but have dreams of becoming an artist like you. And the fact you used the same camera I just bought (Canon XH A1) for this particular video is very inspiring.

I love this piece Steven, it is nostalgic and reminds me of my trip to San Fran. Plus those darn seals, man, I can still smell them!

But really, nice work, great framing as always, and I loved how you captured most of the highlights of the city, in both close and wide shots with some camera movement. That really made it for me. Again, as always, nice work.

    Peace and Blessings,
    Hidalgo
