Such a poignant and evocative piece of work, saturated with rich symbolism and archetypal metaphor
It begins with innocence; the direct, immediate [not mediated] relationship to our Earth Mother- from which all life, sensuality and true reflections of Self- spring forth. She is beautiful, sensual and full of wonder [wonderful].
-But the direct connection has been broken by acts of anger, violence and pompous authority figures, which have damaged the mirror that reflects our natural relationship to self, others and the planet- as a living organism.
Attempts to ingest [eat] the prevailing 'wisdom' [obvious misnomer] lead to fragmented reflections of reality, self loathing and- ultimately- the agonizing death of spirit.
Interesting juxtaposition of the broken square [archetypal masculine] mirror, in which the Feminine has become acclaimated to seeing herself and the round [archetypal femine] mirror, through which she can see nothing at all.
Powerful work with believable acting.
Thank you so much for your beautiful comment, I was very excited to read it. Your interpretation is surely not what I had in mind while shooting it, but it still suits the film so well. I love when a viewer opens up a new perspective on a piece I've done.
I appreciate it so much, thank you for taking the time to let me know about its impression on you!!
i'm actually in post-pro of my latest drama 'A Ghost in D Minor' right now, and preparing another medium-length film right now. if you'd care to keep track, oohshinycinema.com :)
