Colored Ideas explores the relations between word and color, stimulating the imagination of the user and evoking concepts that are inherent the word. In this work the book is created to act like a guide to our imagination, translating a word into a color, stimulating and provoking the reader's imagination. There are multiple realities and different ways to associate a color to an idea, and that's what is being explored here.
For this project we created a custom application, written in Processing, that retrieves images from Flickr according to the words of a given text, poems in this case, calculates their predominant colors, and exports them to a digital document that is ready for printing. This document contains also a cover with the poem's name, its author and the date of the color translation. The first page shows the full poem, followed by colorful pages with the colors translated by the application. In the back cover the RGB values of the chromatic translation of each word are presented.
