This is the second highlight video from our Summer of 2013 fly fishing for native Brook Trout. The Upper Peninsula of Michigan has given me the best year of my life in 2013 fly fishing for these natives. In this video I land a 17.8 inch brookie; the biggest of my life. We have been putting them back for many years now and the rewards are... large fish. All the fish I catch are released unharmed.
The DNR and others "think" that the possession limit might be ok to move up to ten fish a day, which is absurd. They also think that the population can support that. I have fished for 30 years across the entire U.P. and I cannot agree. Some fisheries MIGHT be able to sustain the same populations, but the quality suffers greatly. It's not an accident that if the regulations say an 8 inch fish is legal, then all you catch is 7.5 inch brook trout. Anyway, thanks for watching and I hoped you enjoyed it! Protect your home waters! Tight lines fly anglers!
