[UPDATE 2012: we adopted Tiger!]
Our white german shepherd and Tiger (our foster dog) run and play in the snow.
Tiger loves to run and explore. At the shelter he was an expert escape artist and still is if given the chance. He is very agile and quick. He should not be left unattended in a backyard or he will probably escape eventually. He is excellent as an indoor dog with daily structured activities like walks, exercise, play and "work." Indoors he is quiet, calm and well-behaved.
Before bringing him here and letting him off leash we had spent some time doing recall (come back when called) training in fenced-in areas, teaching him to pay attention in general, and socializing him with other dogs in fenced-in dog parks.
If you are interested in adopting Tiger, please contact the Clear Creek/ Gilpin County Animal shelter (in Dumont, Colorado) at 303-679-2477.
[Note that this area is a designated off leash dog walking trail where the rules of etiquette are similar to those of a dog park. But for regular hiking/walking trails and parks, however, the etiquette is to keep your dog leashed at all times (usually required by law) or if allowed off leash to not let your dog run amok nor approach and interact with other people and their dogs.]
