seems to me if shooting your alpha channel in camera you better get the adjustments key'd right. Where/how would you tweak it in post?

You are right, but this is April 1st (sorry!) and the camera, while real, has a single tube and is 25 years old. And CMYK is not a possible color space for any additive color source, like video!

But seriously, yes, keying really only requires a way to isolate pixels, so although the technology in the segment is totally made up whole cloth (I don't think a 4-CCD camera is possible) keying in camera is definitely something that *could* happen. Live keying, of course happens all the time.

Lol the P1800 was the first auto white balance Camera I used. Before it was the 1640 where you set the white balance manually. So fun to see this old tube beast again.

One of the funiest things I remember about the 1800 was the two speed tiny zoom button.

Shame windows photoshop is easy to recognize :)

As for 4CCD being possible, sure why not? I even would like to suggest someone made one already in a lab somewhere.

JVC use to have a weird little camera you could set to title mode it generated some sort of keying image of whatever you shot. Basically turned everything into super high contrast or paint like mode.

Pre-keyed images, thats part of the set that comes with the pre-edited sound recorder right? You know the on that only records the right soundbites...

Funny. You are right, now that I think about it: there are a couple of different single-CCD color filters that have 4 different values, so, sure, why not a 4-way prism? Of course, a black filter wouldn't work at all and "alpha" is a post imaging sensor thing, but I could definitely see an IR chip being used. In fact, a "special" IR chip might simply be a normal chip with the existing IR filter removed...

Hmmm... got a couple million dollars in venture capital?

  • Both are very funny.... lol. Shooting pre-keyed footage is completely outrageous. I love the humor.
