The task was to create a teaser video for the exciting new Zubo franchise to be shown at the MIPCOM convention. We were asked to create something that wouldn't give too much away, but would still highlight the wide range of characters, the rich environments and the sense of humour of Zubo. Working with an animator and concept artist, I came up with the idea of creating a Tex Avery influenced piece where two Zubo characters interacted with each other and the environment. I took direction for the piece to comp all the elements together in After Effects.

Hey, dude. This is so cool and funny. I have watched it like 4 or 5 times and still feel like watching it again...Btw, I'm really wondering, how do u make the face animation, is it with maya? the blend shape? Or with after effects? Thanks for the answer

    Hi Andi.

Sorry I took so long in replying to you, I have only just seen your message.

If I am totally honest, I'm 100% sure how the facial animations were created as this was a collaboration project and the character animation was created by someone else. They were animated in Maya though along with the characters and not done in post.

great stuff, looks like an awesome concept whatever it is.

Cheers Zack. It was a promotional video for a DS game called Zubo. The video was used as a teaser at the television convention Mipcom. I'm not sure if the TV show for it is still going ahead as I no longer work for the game company.

Great work. You wrote above that it was a collaborative project. So, what was your part?
Is the other artist at vimeo, too?
  • JimJam Graphics 8 months ago
    Hi no name party.

I've finally added a blurb to the video which explains it a little more. Sadly, neither the animator nor the concept artist have a Vimeo page. Or if they do I am unaware of it.
