A cut out style stop motion animation I created in 2012 for a college project.
The voice narrating is that of my Grandfather, who worked as a railway fireman for British Railways, based around the Rowsley (Shedcode 17D) area until the line was closed in 1968. Here, he recounts his memories of living in the small cottage at the side of the level crossing at Church Lane in Darley Dale. The house itself still stands to this day, albeit with a minor extension built on to the existing structure.
I had always been a fan of Postgate and Firmin's work on Ivor the Engine, and since I had to base the visuals on that of an existing animator, it seemed like a good style to evoke given the subject matter.
