Ongoing project SHiKAKU (四角, 視覚, 視角, 死角) is a Japanese homophone that translates to “square,” “visual,” “optic angle,” and “blind spot.”
SHiKAKU 08 consists of light cube structures and a two-way mirror box in a darkened room that are activated by the sounds in the space. As one moves around the installation, new and unexpected patterns of light and sound build up making the passive viewer an active participant. Through the composite experience of simple gestures, lights and sounds SHiKAKU distills complex environments into a minimal but holistic digital landscape.
