87. Maya: Realtime Viewport Shaders
2 years ago
cgbootcamp.com/tutorials/2010/1/4/maya-realtime-viewport-shaders.html

In this tutorial we cover the basics of using realtime HLSL and CgFX shaders in Maya’s viewport. We discuss loading shader files (*.fx or *.cgfx) and linking textures and lights.

Note: I forgot to mention that Maya’s viewport does not handle transparency, especially layered transparent/alpha object well. Sometimes you will get strange viewport artifacts, like the transparent object cutting out objects behind it. This is a limitation of Maya’s realtime compilers and is unavoidable : {

Runtime: ~10 min.

Software: Maya

Instructor: Leo Covarrubias
