New Years Eve in Tokyo

New Years Eve in Tokyo

James T. Kirk

I took my GH1 and my "new" 50 years old Canon FL 58 mm 1.2 lens for shooting some impressions of the New Years Eve here in Tokyo.

There is no custom for parties and fireworks in Japan like in most of the western countries, but many people come to the famous Hachiko crossing in Shibuya for a public countdown and praying in the shrines and temples after midnight. I went to Yasukuni-Jinja later.

Often more "no light" than low light conditions, but always shooting at 720p, 60fps and f=2. No color grading, no tripod, edited in FCP on a 24fps timeline, slow motions with cinema tools.

BTW, the Canon FL 58 mm 1.2 is one of the only two every made radioactive Canon lenses and I can't wait for giving it a try under daytime conditions too.

A very Happy New Year to everyone !!!
