In this episode of Slowing Time, we play with sparklers! Not only do we play with sparklers without burning ourselves, we even stick them in water! Boring? No! This actually causes awesomeness to happen instead of what you might think would happen. If you think sparklers and fireworks are awesome normally, you'll love them at 1255 frames per second (40x slower than real life). It's beautiful, fascinating, and just very cool. We think you'll like it.
We used an Edgertronic high speed camera to shoot the slow motion footage and then used Digital Anarchy's Flicker Free plugin to remove the flicker that results from high speed video and electric lights (we don't have the really expensive lights). The plugin is available for After Effects, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro and more hosts are coming soon.
And, yes, time traveling with a super high speed camera is quite fun.
