There are a variety of instruments used to collect data at sea but making sense of that data and what it is telling us is often an elaborate and complex task. Here, Dr. Fred Bingham, a professor of physics and oceanography at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington explains what data generated from a Lagrangian Float looks like and what it means in terms of ocean surface salinity. This video focuses on Lagrangian Float data specifically and is part of a larger presentation entitled “Follow That Salt! SPURS Results and the Future of Salinity Exploration” (cosee.umaine.edu/coseeos/spurs/webinars_03.htm).
