2. Both labor supply and labor demand are needed
3. Reducing unemployment has long-term benefits
4. The MEED program can create jobs, cheaply
Dr. Bartik was the keynote speaker for the "Jobless Pandemic: Prescription for a Cure" forum, held in the Twin Cities, MN, in fall 2009. Joined by other speakers, leaders from the City, community, and foundations, and service providers, the forum focused on job creation strategies for the hardest to employ and the success of a 1980's MN wage subsidies program that helped kick start small business growth.
