This podcast helps viewers gain an understanding of how other emergency departments have implemented changes to their practices to enhance patient centred care for Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and other culturally diverse patients.

Dr Rajesh Sehdev, FACEM introduces the initiatives implemented at Townsville ED and how it has allowed their department to gain an understanding of the benefits to patients and staff by employing culturally competent practices. The podcast also features Emiliano Zucchi, Coordinator, Northern Health Transcultural and Language Services, Neil Pomfret, Senior ALO, Alice Springs Hospital and Sharon Mallie ALO, Townsville ED who each reiterate the long term benefits such as enhanced communication with patients; increased compliance with treatments and ensuring better patient outcomes.
