Maceda Box was a project developed by Gene Kogan in November 2013 at The Unifiedfield Nomadic Artist-in-Residence Program in Davao, The Philippines.

It was an experimental installation for interacting with the field recordings of Filipino ethnomusicologist Jose Maceda. A collection of Maceda's recordings, acoustic fragments spanning the whole of the Philippines and drawing from its varied musical traditions, are spatially organized according to acoustic similarity, allowing a viewer to draw upon the works in an intuitive and playful way with the use of the Leap Motion, a device which enables precise hand-tracking.

This video was filmed at Lispher Inn in Davao City. Thanks to Angely Chi and Davao Writers Guild for the production; UP Center for Ethnomusicology for the Maceda recordings; photo documentation: Swito Twins, Inc. Julienne Mumar; additional equipment and documentation: Studiobugsy.
