This pen is designed to map and visualise the invisible radio fields around RFID tags. The pen only draws when it detects the an RFID signal from a reader below the paper.

RFID fields turn out to be perfectly circular...

It was made in 2006 by Schulze & Webb and Timo Arnall. This version is modified by Einar Sneve Martinussen.

    Wouldn't you actually get more of a "metaballs" effect with multiple radio sources behind the paper... Very clever & nice idea!

    You might, but this kind of RFID tends to stop working with multiple readers/tags in the same space, they interfere with each other...
