    That's great. Very smooth.

The music and the dolly moves really make your backyard look very dramatic! ; - ) Nicely done.
  • Thanks Matt!

yep! Nice editing and nice 50 too!
What I like most of this slider is the long movements comparing to most of the DIY sliders ...

Super slow makes it super dramatic. What's the piano piece?
  •
  • The piece is Eleven Eleven Three by Minus Pilots, created for the Post piano 2: open remix project on 12k label.

How much travel do you get with your diy dolly?
  • I took a ladder that is 2,26m long. I didn't try it yet, but it should be quite easy to put 2 or 3 of them together.

Can we have a "making of" video?
  • I can't really make a making of video of the constuction (unless I unmount the dolly), but I'll try to write a tutorial hen I'll have a little less work to do :)

Good first try. However, to really get a payoff off a dolly shot, you need to have some parallax in it. Have different layers that you pass by. Or drive past elements in the dolly's track.

    Beautiful build and beautiful footage!

How is the dolly dragged so smoothly? How is it moved?
  • I moved it manually, with the handle. With some training you can achieve very smooth shots.
  • Johan Ronström 2 years ago
    Cool! That is indeed smooth.

Then I could tip you about this trick; it could work on your setup too, dragging with something elastic like a exercise band.

Did you use anything to cover your 7D in the snow or just let it be out in the weather?
  • I actually bought it the day before this shooting, so i didn't let it go under the snow :D
I juste made a protection with some plastic bags, it worked out pretty well.

I noticed some jerky motion. I have that on mine too. I'm wondering if it is the IS on during panning that causes that or if it is Vimeo? Most notable at :10 mark.

  • I just built it myself...

  • Antoine MOUSSY 1 year ago

how did you get it so smooth was it just you walking or did you use something to stroll along
  • Romain Tardy (AntiVJ) 5 months ago
It was just me walking. You can also use a rubber strip to pull the dolly, it ives good results as well.
