The Coalition for the Homeless's Grand Central Food Program has made it its mission to serve hot meals to the homeless on New York's streets 365 days a year, functioning through blackouts, Hurricane Sandy, and this year's harsh winter. With the number of homeless people increasing in 2014, and cold temperatures leaving shelters overpopulated, many homeless New Yorkers are still on the street and rely on the program's meal for what is, at times, their only meal of the day.
