This short movie is based on the story "the glove" from Friedrich Schiller and was directed by Henning Backhaus, who also made the nice piano music. It was shot on 16mm Kodak-stock Vision2 200T.

About the film:
Imagine a winter day, when you are together with the boy you like. Then, another girl comes to spoil your enjoyment of this precious moment. The acting based on delicate gestures well expresses the fragility of the youth and arouse nostalgia.

beautiful little film. the piano music was perfect.

i was amused to see "sh*t" translated into "f*ck"... hahaha. i guess this might be the correct translation, given the circumstances.

Nice camera work, the use of film really does this piece justice.
The translation, looses a little of the original youth speak though still good.
One of the few Austrian films I easily understood. I have a little trouble with the Austrian dialect, but not here well done.

wow, nice cinematography!! I would like to know the shooting details!! Crane, etc?? :p

    Indeed, 16mm and 35mm are incomparable!!! :)
  • Bewegtbildarbeiter plus 3 years ago
Hi Mario, as I said it was filmed on S-16 Kodak stock with an ARRI SR3 and Zeiss HS lenses without additional light on two weekends (about 3 and a half days). The crane was from ABC Products with a length of 9 metres and we used the gear head Pele from the same house. If you have a look at my portrait photos, you'll find a picture of the crane also.

This is what the art of film is about. This was a wonderful project that was based on story and was made with talent and skill. I am so tired of seeing things based on shallow concepts and nothing more than the latest tech toys.

After working on commercials for the last 10 years, this reminds me of why I went to film school.

    Thank You.

We could use an ARRI SR3 for the movie, the best (and only one) of the Filmacademy in Vienna. It was colour corrected in a night session on an AVID Nitris.

hello great piece of work !!! amazing stuff. Film is really so different from video. I was wondering how did you transfer the film to video? is it a diy ? thanks
  • Bewegtbildarbeiter plus 3 years ago
No, I don't think it's possible to do it by yourself. There's a company in Vienna that processes the Celluloid and transfers it to Video afterwards. That's the moment when you see the images for the first time. That's always a very thrilling time :o)

Sorry, dass ich dich mit Fragen löchere :P
Hätte gerade ein gutes Angebot für ne Canon HG10. Was hältst du davon? Ich weiss ist ein HDD Camcorder, doch gibt es da auch Qualitative Abstriche oder hat man nur das problem mit der vollen Platte? ;-)

Thanks Adrian. Yes you're right. Film is still much better than most video cameras, but I'm surprised how fast the video technique has been developed for the last years and I think, Phillip Blooms videos are amazing and look great too.

camera, editing, music - all very beautiful.
language and credibility of the kids: zero. sorry.
why does'nt the director let them talk in the way they normally do. i am still amazed why german film-language is so beyond reality. it gives me chicken skin. take a look at seidl-movies to see how people really talk.
  • Bewegtbildarbeiter plus 3 years ago
I have the same problems with that movie and it's really hard to understand why the german film language is like that. Perhaps it's the kind of writing dialogues. Seidl always improvises with his actors, that means no text is written before. We shot the feature lengths film "Inside America" last year in Texas and also improvised most of the dialogues. That worked fine. Hope it will be ready soon.
