Still haven't had a chance to get out and film with the new HV20. Just some rain drops around the house.

Shot in 24p, Cine Mode. A little sharpening, saturation adjusting, color with Magic Bullet & some cookie cuttin'.

Peace & Love,
Cutz

Did you remove pulldown? I mean, if you record in PF24 with the HV20, you might need to remove pulldown for best online playback. Otherwise there are some ghosting problems sometimes...
  • No! Too many steps! Don't know why I shot in the PF24 (F for fake) mode, but I did.

There is a discount at the HV20.com forum for HV20 users of Cineform (about $200). This utility removes pulldown and captures from tape at the same time with no extra steps, so it is real time (near-real time for older PCs).
  • Hey! That's cool! Thanks, I'm gonna' go look that up.
  • I use Apple Compressor and it's free, simple, but an extra step. Love the results, though.

Looks great. I really like the white flower, is that an orchid?
I want to get me some Magic Bullet now.
  •
  • Thanks BigD! The flower is an Iris. Not sure which kind of Iris, but an Iris. Check out eNature! You can search for plants and animals that are in your area. It's pretty freakin' cool! Here is the link: enature.com/home/indexNew.asp
As far as Magic Bullet goes... I love it! SloMo rendering time though.

Yeah, I have heard it is very intensive. I only have 2g's of RAM, so I am not sure if I should even bother with it. What do you
    think.
    And thanks for the link.
  • I'm working on a laptop with only 2G's of ram. I have a Western Digital external drive that I capture and store my files to. You just need to plan to do something while it's rendering. Like go on a vacation! It's not a sit at the computer and wait to see the progress kinda' thing, that's for sure. I REALLY love it though! Lots of tweeks you can do with the filters!

Wow really nice and vibrant.. where is everyone getting the nice bakkground music?
  •
  • Thanks Brian! I've got a lot of my mp3's from hangin' out with friends and recording their tunes. I've got hours & hours of stuff. I also visit Beatport.com on a regular basis!

Really great video. I loved the colors . I wish MB didn't take so long to render I would use it more often .
  • Thanx bro! You can use MB! Just hit render and take a nap (for a day or so).

    Jay,
Great video again! Like Lucasberg said, great colors. I love the black Vignette you created around the edges. It gives a real mellow, soft touch. Plus MB is just amazing. Its worth the long Rengers IMO!
  • Hey! Thanx man! Yeah I like the soft edges. It reminds me of grandad's ol' tv.

Sweet! Looks like you'll be having fun with that HV20!
  • Love it! It seems, now that I have it, I haven't had a free moment to go shoot.

Time restriction does seem to be a common denominator!
  • Yes it does!

ho god what a sharp picture !
    really great
how did you do your "little sharpening"
i never get such pictures :(
  • Vegas has an effect/tool called sharpen. It also depends on lighting; too little & it looks grainy, too much & it's washed out. Try also playing with manual focus & shutter speeds. All of these can make a difference with picture clarity.

This video made me want to pee :) Great job though, some really nice images. BTW, are you a chopper pilot?
  • Ha haaaaaa... That's great! And thanks! No, not a chopper pilot. I wish! The picture is from a little road trip a group of us took to the Smoky Mountains a year ago. We did some hiking, horseback riding and then a helicopter tour. We wanted to see some of the spots, from air, that we had hiked. And just to see the mountains from above. That was my first time in a chopper. Let me just say. . .
    Nothin' like it!

Man, my four favourite things, hiking, horses, flying and of course, my camcorder! :)
